Board Appointments in the Integrity Organization
With over a decade of committed service as a Director of the Governing Board of the organization, Mrs. Ibukun Awosika has been unanimously appointed as the Chairman of the of the Governing Board of the organization to be ably assisted by Mr. Osaro Eghobamien, SAN as the Vice-Chairman. The appointment takes effect from Monday February 26, 2018.
Mrs. Awosika who is on the Board of numerous organizations, is the Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Plc. She is a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative, Aspen Global Leadership Network and a member of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group.
Mr. Eghobamien joined the Governing Board in December 2016 and has made valuable contributions to the growth of the organization. He is the founding partner and the Managing Partner of Perchstone & Graeys and sits on a number of reform committees including the Lagos State trust law reform committee mortgage implementation committee of the Financial System Strategy (FSS 2020).
With the combined wealth of experience of the Chairman, Vice- Chairman and the other Directors, the organization is set to take a giant leap on the issues of Corporate Governance and Business Integrity locally and internationally.
The appointment coincides with the recent accomplishments of the organization in its mission to create strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations. On February 22nd, 2018, The Convention on Business Integrity in partnership with The Nigerian Stock Exchange held a certification ceremony for the 35 companies and the 437 Directors that were successful during the Corporate Governance Rating System (CGRS) process. The companies were awarded the CGRS certification and would be part of a tradable basket for the Corporate Governance Index while the directors were awarded certificates for success in the Fiduciary Awareness Certification Test (FACT), which is a key component of the CGRS.
INTEGRITY ORGANISATION LIMITED GTE is an anti-corruption, research and advocacy organization concerned with the issues of accountability and transparency in Public and business life. It was founded in 1995 during the Abacha regime as a direct reaction to the corruption and poor governance of Nigeria represented by that era. INTEGRITY has had a history of credible involvement in high profile issues and it has built a reputation for tactful, high profile, high impact handling of engagement with supply side actors on various issues. As a result of the need to have a specific arm that would deal with issues arising in the private sector while still focusing on the Public domain, it gave birth to the establishment of The Convention on Business Integrity.
THE CONVENTION ON BUSINESS (CBi), a company limited by guarantee, was established in 1997 with the aim of promoting ethical business practices, transparency and fair competition in the private and public sectors. Its mission is to empower people, their transactions, systems and institutions against corruption by intervening to minimize risk of deviance from acceptable benchmarks, through the wide publication of ratings and rankings performed on such entities, enabling more transparent, consistent and predictable transactions that people can observe, affect and benefit from.
