Highlights from the Discussion on Integrating New SOPs into Daily Operations at Nigerian Seaports & Terminals
The webinar on “Integrating the New SOPs into Daily Operations at Nigerian Seaports & Terminals” was hosted on the 18th of August 2020 by the Convention on Business Integrity as part of its project with the Maritime Anti Corruption Network (MACN) and the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) to strengthen transparency and accountability of port stakeholders, as well as harmonize the standard operating procedures of all the Agencies operating at the ports and terminals in order to reduce infractions and incidences of corrupt practices that occurred at the Ports.
The objectives of the webinar were:
- To identify through discussions, strategies of integrating the new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) into daily operations in vessel and cargo clearance at the Ports & Terminals.
- To share the result of the findings of the Survey carried out to determine the level of awareness and usage of the SOPs and Grievance Mechanism (GRM)
Key discussants at the event included representatives from the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), as well as international stakeholders from the Maritime Anti Corruption Network.
