Highlights of the 3rd Annual Christopher Kolade Lecture on Business Integrity
The 3rd series of the Christopher Kolade annual Lecture held in Lagos on June 25th, 2015.Evey year seems to be better than the previous, as this year, the success was quite overwhelming with the lecture being delivered by His Excellency, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON- Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria who used the opportunity to highlight the present Administration’s policies on Anti-Corruption and specifically Business Integrity. The venue of the event was filled to capacity with about four hundred people which comprised of top Government dignitaries from the private and Public sector as well as Managing Directors of Private and Public companies, members of the Diplomatic Corp and other notable Stakeholders.
The keynote speaker was joined by other notable speakers which included Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, Founder and CEO, The Chair Centre Group; Mr. Tosin Runsewe, Chief Client Officer & Group Executive, AXA Mansard Insurance; Mrs. Nkechi Newton – Denila, Executive Director, Legal & Regulatory Services, Vodacom Business Nigeria; Dr. Folarin Gbadebo – Smith, CEO, Centre for Public Policy Alternatives (CPPA) and Mrs. Adeola Azeez, Deputy Country Representative, Deutsche Bank Nigeria. The panel was ably moderated by Mr. Soji Apampa, Executive Director, The Convention on Business Integrity. Together the formidable team of panelists made a case for “Beyond Compliance: Imbibing a Culture of business integrity”, stimulate discourse and convince the stakeholders that “Integrity pays.”
The Annual Christopher Kolade lecture series is emerging as a forum for businesses to engage with experts and with each other on business integrity issues. The first (1st) installment honored the icons of Integrity who stood up and defended the need for business integrity at a crucial time in our history when “anti-corruption” was synonymous with “anti-government”. The second (2nd) addressed the need for “Building Businesses on a Solid Foundation” by creating a Business case for Business Integrity. The third (3rd) installment address the existing and potential regulatory impetus for sound business practices, and urge businesses to improve their competitiveness by going beyond the letter of corporate governance codes and anti-corruption laws to imbibe the spirit of ethical business practice.
