Identifying & Building Alliances with Port Users on Cargo & Vessel Transactions
As a follow-up to the webinar launching the expansion of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network‘s (MACN) collective action initiatives in Nigeria last month, CBI in partnership with MACN and with support from Siemens AG will be hosting a series of online forums to identify & build alliances with Nigerian port users on cargo & vessel transactions.
The scale-up of the MACN’s collective action program in Nigeria, aims to improve efficiency of seaports and terminals services in Nigeria and enable effective corruption prevention through improved compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The project will lead to clean business and fair market conditions for seaport and terminal’s operations in Nigeria through; enabling stronger business collective action amongst port users in Nigeria, stronger government compliance environment, proving public private arrangements for oversight of compliance with SOPs and better responses to user reports with the Grievance Mechanism.
To this end, we have scheduled two webinars to address the needs of our stakeholders in the Eastern and Western Ports. The objectives of the webinar are:
- To identify and build alliances with ports users on cargo and vessel transactions using a collective action to tackle inefficient operations at the ports that encourage corruptions, and
- To encourage and demand a greater compliance with standard procedures at the ports.
