Port Service Support Portal
The Maritime anti-corruption network (MACN) ethics training of trainers, a component part of the Port Service Support Portal (PSSP)project for stakeholders held in Calabar, Port Harcourt and Onne ports on the 22nd and 24th May 2017. The training was organized in conjunction with the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) and the Project Steering Committee (PSC) of the Port Service Support Portal (PSSP) project hosted by the Technical Unit on Anti-Corruption Reforms (TUGAR).
The Calabar training targeted stakeholders from the Calabar port including public agencies in the maritime sector as well as private sector actors while the Port Harcourt training attracted stakeholders from the Port Harcourt and Onne ports. The PSSP was launched at both venues.
The training was aimed at familiarizing participants with the concept and theory of professional ethics, how to teach adults the subject of professional ethics in an engaging way, getting participants familiar with the content of the ToT toolbox and arming participants with tools and ideas for a successful roll out.
Participants included members from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Nigeria Shippers Council (NSC), Nigeria Maritime and Safety Administration (NIMASA), Nigeria Inland Waterways Agency (NIWA), Shipping Agencies, the Association of Nigeria Licensed Agents (ANCLA), the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), the Port Health Service and the Port Police.
Participants were taken through Professional Ethics in Nigeria, Ethics Teaching skills -Adult learning and thereafter divided into syndicate groups to work on the ethical behavior and anti-corruption measures case studies after which the e learning platform for further engagement on ethics and anticorruption was introduced.
The next stage involves the roll out for the step – down training for all participating entities.
